By the same token, bragging is never an attractive quality. There's a fine line between confident and cocky, and the difference is largely semantic. Many people are uncomfortable talking about themselves for fear of sounding arrogant, but as long as you avoid self-aggrandizing ommentary and patronizing jibes at others, you should be just fine.
Most people stick with list-writing anyway: smart, attractive, funny, successful, kind, romantic, fit, and so on. The list-writers never Strike me as braggarts so much as people who are either careless or uncreative. If you want to see arrogant, the essay below is an actual example of self-confidence run amok. Once you read it, I don't think I'll need to explain where this charming girl went wrong.
About Me
I was born into a very successful family in Bethesda. My parents are extremely well-off. Dad is a tenured professor at Johns Hopkins and Mom is a noted psychologist. I am currently in my second year at Harvard Business School. I have brains, beauty, family, taste, and money. I'm looking for a real man. I doubt any of you are on the Internet, but what the hell...
My Perfect Match
I am looking for a highly successful man, and don't have time to deal with all the unemployed losers out there. If you're under 30, take a hike.
Over 40, same thing. If you're taller than 5'11", have a full head of hair, and a career on the rise, you might just get my attention. I'm only inter-ested in very successful men, because they're the only ones who know how to handle being with a strong woman. I've been told I'm intimi-dating, and honestly, I'm glad. It weeds out the weaklings out there (but apparently not enough). I am financially self-sufficient, but I would like for my man to do better than me, so we can live in luxury together. I am not looking for a sugar daddy. I just know what I want.
Perfect First Date
You tell me. Your answer will probably say a lot about you. Save the crap
about moonlit walks on the beach for someone who cares. Tell me what island we're flying to. What hotel we're staying at. What restaurant we're dining in. Cheap guys, you know where you can go. I am a rare diamond and do not want crappy metal surrounding me.
Ideal Relationship
An ideal relationship is where both partners know what they want and do not pretend to be something they are not. Put me up on a pedestal, and you will get your just rewards. And if you couldn't tell from the rest of what I wrote, honesty and mutual attraction are very important.
Learned from Past Relationships
I don't need a man to make me happy.
I can't fabricate a profile that is a bigger turnoff than that one, so I won't even begin to try. Simply put: no one likes a stuck-up bitch. Not even the jackass described in the following.
